Are you homebound and unable to come visit the library?
Let us bring the Library to you! Ste. Genevieve County Library is now providing free delivery of library materials to Ste. Genevieve County residents and registered cardholders who are physically unable to come to the library due to disability or long-term illness and reside within 15 miles of our main facility. Registration for this service is easy. Complete the online form, and fill out the Homebound Reader survey which can be filled out by clicking the Homebound Delivery Registration & Survey After registering for the service, we will contact you in regards to setting up your service. We will request to hold onto your library card while you are receiving this service. A staff member will then speak with you and go over your survey to discuss what types of materials interest you, books (including fiction, non fiction large print and audio) and DVDs are all eligible for homebound checkout.Â

Who qualifies for this program?
Currently patrons who are unable to leave their residence due to age-related issues illness or disability for extended periods of time are able to utilize this service. At this time we also have a range of 15 miles from our main branch. As this program grows so will the distance.
What items can I check out as a homebound patron?
All formats of materials are eligible for homebound delivery with exception of new release and popular titles (in this case staff will do everything possible to meet the patrons request in a timely fashion).
I am interested, but I don’t have a library card…
Each homebound customer must possess or register for a library card if they do not already have one.
How are items chosen?
Items can either be requested by the customer by emailing staff ([email protected]) or sending a list along with returned materials.
If not our staff will utilize the readers survey and patron suggestions to make the selections for homebound patrons.
Does this service cost anything?Â
No! Homebound delivery is free, the cost of this program has been graciously supported by a grant from the Senior Citizen Board of Ste. Genevieve.
However, overdue fines are not charged on homebound materials, but the library’s standard fees will apply to any lost or damaged items.
Ste. Genevieve County Library retains the right to discontinue service if borrowed items are lost, damaged and/or not returned in the same condition they were delivered.
General Information
- Homebound Deliveries happen once per month (currently the 2nd Thursday of the Month)
- Homebound patrons will have a 45-day checkout which will include delivery and pickup
- Up to 10 items at a time will be checked out including up to 5 DVD’s and 5 books or 10 books total.
- No fines for late materials, although timely return is expected in order to continue in the program.
- Items will arrive in a SGCLIB courier bag and are expected to be picked up in the same courier bag or else they will be charged $10.00.
- In order to ensure we are sending new titles to patrons our staff will maintain a list of items we send to participants. Participants can opt out of this. However, we cannot guarantee that duplicate titles will not be sent accidently.
