Storytime in a Bag

Ste. Genevieve County Library has partnered with Steve Plati from Shelter Insurance to bring one of the most popular aspects of the library home. Starting Monday July 22nd the library will unveil their Story Time in a Bag program. Since reopening on June 1st, SGCLIB hasn’t had any in-person programming. “This program was initially given to one of our part-time staff members, Suzanna Harlow. I gave her a rough outline and she took it and improved it ten-fold,” stated Shawn Long, Library Director.

That improvement includes 8 individual “Story Times in a Bag” with at least three different activities per book. All of the books focus on different regions throughout the country and different cultures found in that region. After every Story Time is completed, participants get to color in their own map of the United States broken out by story. After they complete all 8 bags they will get a prize sponsored by Shelter Insurance.

“I’m really excited to support this program,” said Steve Plati. “Giving back to our community is why I love working for Shelter, reading is a cornerstone to a good education and these kits are a great way to help busy parents do some hands-on activities with their kids.”
