What do I need to utilize these new resources?
First and foremost a library card! Beyond that Playaway Audio books require either corded headphones or an AV cord. Both the Wonderbook and the Launchpad have audio jacks on the device but utilizing both of them does not require headphones. None of these items require high speed internet for use.
How many of each item can I check out?
Playaway Audiobooks-No limit
Playaway Wonderbooks-Because of the limited availability of these items we do ask that you limit the amount to 2 per household.
Playaway Launchpad- 1 per household
What is the check out duration and renewals for these items?
Playaway Audiobooks-2 weeks with no renewals
Playaway Wonderbook-2 weeks no renewals
Playaway Launchpad- 7 days no renewals
Can we reserve/hold these items?
Sadly you cannot, these items are only available to be checked out from the library directly.

What happens if i discovered an issue with an item?
We understand that wear and tear happens. However, our staff has been trained to check these items for usability before being checked out and when it’s returned. If you have discovered that an item is not playing correctly upon your arrival home please alert library staff right away to the issue and return it as soon as possible. We will assess it and determine if it’s basic wear and tear or if damage has occurred. We do our best not to charge patrons for basic wear and tear on items however, we do ask that items damaged while in your possession be replaced at the cardholders expense.
How do I charge these items?
SGCLIB staff does our best to ensure our materials are charged and ready to go for our patrons. However, if you find an issue with any of the items you can do the following.
Playaway Audiobooks Requires a AAA battery, come by the library and alert the staff and we will give you a replacement.
Playaway Wonderbooks-Requires a Micro USB cord. If a flashing red light is on it indicates less than 1 hour of play time remains. When you return the book alert the staff and we will charge it for the next patron
Playaway Launchpad-Launchpads include their own chargers in the set. Use the included charger to charge as needed.
Is there a cost to check these items out?
At the present time there is not. However we do ask that these items be returned promptly in order to ensure the demand for these items will be met.
I only own wireless headphone will that work?
Sadly these items are not Bluetooth enabled. However, to ensure our patrons can start using these products right out the door we sell Headphones and AV cords to our patrons for a nominal fee.

At this time we are only accepting cash to purchase these items.
How do I return these items?
We ask that all Playaway items be returned directly to our front desk. This is to ensure that our staff can assess the condition of the items, ensure all pieces are included and that it is in good working order upon its return.
Any Playaway Launchpad returned in the drop box are subject to a $5.00 fine and the patron will be responsible for the replacement or repair of any item found in disrepair. Any patron who violates our Launchpad Lending Policy can loose privileges in checking out future Launchpads.
Are there any specific rules in regards to the Launchpads?
Yes. We ask that all patrons have a valid SGCLIB Library card in good standing with no fines or overdue items and be 18 or over. We also ask that every patron who checks out an item fill out a Launchpad Borrowers Agreement before every checkout of a Launchpad.
Can you get a specific Launchpad for me or my child?
We are always looking for ways to improve our services at SGCLIB and as our budget sees fit we will purchase additional resources including more Launchpads. That is why we love to hear from our patrons on what resources we should invest in. With over 300 available titles available we would be happy to get your input on what our community would use.
